14. Pearls of Handwriting
Insight: Many scenes stand before our eyes, but what to see and what not to see is in our hands.
On Tuesday, 26 December 2023, during the Vasna Poonam Event, beloved Guruji HDH Swamishri was giving a discourse on Gadhada First, Vachanamrut 6. He gave a commandment to recognise one’s own faults through self-reflection (nij-darshan) and to write them down.
From the sabha, one child stood up and offered his self-reflection diary to Guruji for His sight.
Guruji looked at it and, in a light-hearted way, said, “Dear, nothing here is readable. It seems Gandhiji has placed his hand on you.” Muktaraj said, “Guruji, please give it to me. I will read it.” He read a little from it.
To give the entire sabha a positive perspective towards that child, and so that the child would not feel embarrassed about his poor handwriting, Guruji said in the sabha, “This Muktaraj studies in English medium. He can barely read and write Gujarati, so naturally the Gujarati letters will be like this! But his English letters are like pearls. He could understand the letters and I could not; that is the fault of my vision, not of the letters.”
Guruji took the child’s handwriting fault upon Himself and made the mindset of the assembly positive towards the child. In this way, Guruji gave a live experience of the teachings of Vachanamrut Gadhada First - 6.
Resolve: If I see someone’s fault, I will cover it and think positively.
